Lazlo

This is a Gasparo Da Salò 1580 model in true Brescian style. The original instrument would have been quickly but very skilfully made and shows roughness around the instrument in tool marks and broken purflings. An instrument real fun to make that can either be decorated to your most baroque fantazy or can be made cheaper. This particular instrument has been made in baroque style complete with hand made olive fingerboard and fittings, and gut strings. Sadly Lazlo had to be converted to modern set up in order to attract attention and was subsequently sold very soon after that. I happily make baroque, renaissance or even more archaic instruments by order ;)

I feel very fortunate that the Alkyona Quartet which viola player - Claire Newton - owns Lazlo, shared with me some recordings.

I am grateful for your generosity and your talent. What an honour!

Here they are playing Giotto Dante from Viaggio in Italia by Giovanni Sollima with Jakob Kullberg
